Privacy at American Legal Assistance
ALA Private Session: no visitor account is required. American Legal Assistance does not create a database of AI questions or answers, and the pleading-paper workspace saves drafts only in your own browser unless you choose to download a file.
AI questions
When you press Ask, your question, selected jurisdiction, and up to four recent messages from the current browser tab are sent to American Legal Assistance's Cloudflare backend. The backend runs a Cloudflare-hosted Workers AI model and returns the answer to this page. You do not need, and are not asked for, a ChatGPT, OpenAI, Zhipu, or other third-party AI account.
American Legal Assistance does not intentionally write AI questions or answers to a database, KV store, object store, or advertising profile. The current AI call explicitly requests that the model output not be stored. The temporary conversation shown on the page exists in browser memory so follow-up questions can include limited context; using Clear AI session removes that local conversation view and context, and reloading the page starts a new AI chat.
Cloudflare necessarily processes content to provide Workers AI and may process ordinary network/security metadata such as IP address, user agent, request time, and abuse signals to operate and protect the service. Cloudflare states that Workers AI Customer Content is not used to train models or improve Cloudflare or third-party services without explicit consent. American Legal Assistance does not sell AI prompt content or use it to build a marketing profile.
Pleading-paper drafts
The pleading-paper editor runs in your browser. Case information, sections, text, order, and font-size choices are automatically saved to that browser's local storage so they can survive refreshes and Back/Forward navigation on the same device. Previewing, downloading Word, and printing/saving PDF do not send the pleading-paper draft to the AI backend. Use Clear saved draft to erase the saved local copy on that device.
Sensitive information and legal privilege
Privacy-by-design does not make this an attorney-client channel. American Legal Assistance is not a law firm and AI conversations are not attorney-client privileged. Share only the facts needed to ask the question, and do not enter passwords, Social Security numbers, bank or payment-card numbers, authentication codes, medical record numbers, or other unnecessary identifiers.
Advertising and analytics
The Ask AI and Pleading Paper workspace is designed to remain separate from behavioral advertising. This version does not load advertising scripts or a third-party analytics service in the workspace. If American Legal Assistance later adds advertising to public resource or article pages, those pages should disclose the advertising technology used. We recommend keeping prompt text and pleading-paper content out of advertising, remarketing, and audience-building systems.
Anti-abuse verification
If Cloudflare Turnstile is enabled, Cloudflare may process technical information needed to distinguish people from automated abuse. Turnstile does not require the visitor to create an account.
No online service can promise that network infrastructure processes zero metadata. The privacy promise here is narrower and concrete: no account requirement, no ALA prompt-history database, no use of prompt content for ALA marketing, local-only pleading-paper autosave, and Cloudflare Workers AI as the hosted inference service.
